Manchester England's alternative-pop group, Pale Waves, has released a new single and unique video for “Gravity” ahead of their forthcoming album, Smitten, to be released this Fall 2024. The song opens with the sweet atmospheres created by the voice of Heather Baron-Gracie, before the straightforward light rock pop groove kicks in with shimmering atmospheric guitars, setting a dramatic and mystical vibe for the song.
The infectious energy of the track and highly emotional lyrics are visually represented by intimate silhouettes, nature, and Heather floating in a boat upon gentle waves, much like her ethereal voice. within the unexpected chord changes and open emotional sound. “She’s pulling me like gravity, everywhere she goes……oh the effect she has on me…” completely draws the listener in.
One of the most pleasing and creative aspects of this track is the surprising yet subtle 80s synth riffs percolating within the mix, supporting the beautiful and open sound and illustration of romantic sentimentality and longing. Highly recommended to fans of the Cranberries and the Cure.
