“CIRCLE OF DOUBT” (Video) By Resetta West

West’s latest single, "Circle of Doubt," is a haunting and hypnotic testament to spiritual exhaustion and the hope for renewal. Released with the Celtic holiday of Beltane, which marks transformation and rebirth, the track forms more than just a song, it transforms into an all-encompassing emotional and mystical experience. Accompanying the song with the music video further enhances the experience, undulating the viewer with a narrative full of symbols, shadows, and reflections intertwining with beautiful introspection.  The video is now available on YouTube, while the audio is also trending on Spotify and Bandcamp. “Circle of Doubt” engages the viewer through both careful listening and multiple viewings.

The song spins deep into psychedelic blues rock with a foundation in slow, looping guitar riffs that act as both pulse and prison, perfectly mirroring the mental trap suggested by the title. In combination, Joseph Demagore’s weary, poetic, and raw vocals prove to be equally emotionally powerful, providing supportive vocals from the shoulders of a broken soul, provided with little more than battle-worn trenches left within. It represents the desperate attempt to break free, straining his voice further and further in the cycle of decaying spirituality. Enveloped in the backdrop stand shimmering solos that slice through the air like distant prayers, which creates a desperate feeling. Every detail is in order, the guitar's echoing sound as well as the delicate keyboard and drum sequences, all organized by co-producer Jason X, who does the bass and keyboard work too.

The imagery of Wolfmother's music video sharpens the focus on the song's themes. The scenes unfold under a brooding, ceremonial atmosphere with flickering candlelight, moving silhouettes, and shadowy figures. Suggestive symbols hint at obscure manual and internal alchemical processes. The muted color scheme either leans towards monochromatic or earthy tones, further accentuating the fatigue of emotions and spiritual exhaustion. Though there is little to no literal plot depiction, which is part of its strength. In this case, the video avoids straightforward interpretation, which allows the audience to impose their interpretations, their own “circle of doubt” onto the experience. This lack of rational representation is what gives the video its beauty: “It’s visual poetry, not exposition."

As for Rosetta West, they have always blended the traditional and contemporary music styles by incorporating elements of blues, psychedelia, and world folk alongside spiritual lyricism. This unique sound placed the quartet Rosetta West in a distinctive region of the independent music scene. Founded by Joseph Demagore, with long-time collaborator Jason X and drummer Nathan Q. Scratch, a reclusive figure who refuses to be photographed, the band has sculpted boldly independent paths. Other than a one-off release with Alive Records, the band chose the underground route, fostering a devoted cult following that spans the globe, prioritizing authenticity and depth instead of superficial commercial trends. The collective resources of their past works can be accessed on streaming platforms. For those who appreciate art that is imaginative and multi-dimensional, the catalogue presents a wealth of resources.

What makes “Circle of Doubt” particularly compelling is how effortlessly it bridges the sonic and the spiritual. It’s not content to simply sound good, it demands emotional engagement, a willingness to sit with discomfort, and an openness to grow. In a musical landscape often dominated by surface-level sentiments, Rosetta West dares to go deeper, asking the listener to look inward and confront what they find. The pairing of the haunting track with its equally evocative video elevates the entire release to something approaching ritual experience to be absorbed rather than merely consumed.

With “Circle of Doubt,” Rosetta West proves once again that they are more than a band; they are sonic mystics, storytellers of the soul’s darker chapters. This track is a must-listen for fans of deeply felt music that combines blues grit, psychedelic haze, and spiritual exploration. So, dive in on YouTube, stream it on Spotify, dig through their catalogue on Bandcamp, and let yourself spiral through the circle until you emerge, if only briefly, into the light.  Shout out to Rosetta West for staying true to their vision and delivering a song and a video that doesn’t just entertain but awakens.
